Proposed routes of power lines across the Curragh.

Eirgrid proposes to install  a new high voltage overhead power line linking Knockraha in Co. Cork to Great Island in Co. Wexford to Dunstown, near Kilcullen, in Co. Kildare ensuring a reliable and high quality electricity supply for homes, farms and businesses in the south and east region for the future. It has published a map showing a number of possible 1 km wide routes for the new power line. One of the possible routes cuts across the eastern end of the Curragh Plains. This area is already disfigured by a high tension power line with its associated pylons.
