Talks to Celebrate Brigid 1500

The County Kildare Federation of Local History Groups has organised a series of talks in the run-up to the Brigid 1500 celebrations in 2024. The talks will commence during Heritage Week 2023 and continue each month until January 2024.

The talks will take place in Kilcullen Heritage Centre and entry to all is free with no booking required. Please note that the October talk is on a Saturday morning (before the Federation’s AGM & Seminar). All other talks are on Monday evenings at 8 pm.

The talks are supported by Kildare County Council under the Brigid 1500 programme.

Brigid 1500 Community and Creative Grant Scheme
Kildare County Council is now accepting applications for the Brigid 1500 Community and Creative Grant Scheme, designed to support projects aligned with the values of Ireland’s patroness saint, St. Brigid.

This initiative encompasses a wide range of activities, including creative, biodiversity, heritage, and performance projects. Priority will be given to projects in collaboration with local communities, honouring Brigid’s diverse legacies – religious, historic, cultural, artistic, and more. Whether it’s nature, folklore, emigration, or peace, all aspects of Brigid’s story are welcome.

Grants of up to €5,000 are available, with applications due by November 10, 2023, at 5 pm.
