Outing to Excavation at the Black Friary, Trim, Co. Meath

Date and Time:   Wednesday 19 August at 2.15 pm

An extra outing has been arranged to archaeological excavations at the site of the Black Friary in Trim, Co. Meath. The site is that of a Dominican Friary founded by the lord of Meath in 1263 and and has survived into modern times in a field, with undulations which betray the footprint of the medieval buildings.

The site is in the middle of a housing estate with very limited parking, so please gather at a public car park close to a LIDL store off the Athboy Road at 2.15 pm. The group will then walk together to the site. Map to follow closer to the date.

There will be no charge for the tour but there will be a donations box on the site, where members can contribute towards the project.

Further information on the excavations, which have been in progress for the past few years, can be found at the Irish Archaeology Field School website
